A Day in the Life of a Tudor Merchant |
![]() |
You walk the short way along Wine Street to the group of people that are gathered near the well at the top of Pithay. As you get nearer you can see through gaps in the crowd that they are all shouting at a man who is tied to a whipping post awaiting his punishment. "What's going on here then?" "That's my poor Robert up there on the whipping post and he don't deserve it." "Don't deserve it? Yes he does. I caught him myself. That man's a thief. He deserves everything he gets." After you've seen a bit of the punishment being administered you decide that it really is time for lunch. You head back along Wine Street and turn left down High Street towards The Angel. |
