Bristol 650 – 1935

In 1935 the city expanded to its maximum northwards extent bringing in land that had been part of the medieval villages of Henbury and Brentry paving the way for further council house building that was not realised until after the Second World War.

The population in 1935 was 390,000 within an area of 39 sq miles.
